To Jinx or not to Jinx…

Not to jinx anything, but because I have taken the time to start this post a certain littlest of them all will wake up…

Little Oli has been very restless today with the heat, I eventually put him in the bath and sat with him until he had cooled down as much as anyone can in this heat.

We have a pretty full line-up this week:

  • Tonight is Logan’s school concert, I know I shouldn’t expect too much, but I’m excited.  Last year’s concert was so awesome and nothing will ever compare with what his previous school had manage to pull off with a bunch of kids.  I have asked one of the moms at the party we attended a couple of weeks ago what to expect and her reply was, not too much..  But I can’t help feeling excited for him.
  • Tomorrow we are taking Logan to the primary school where he has been accepted for Grade 1 for the Grade R teacher to evaluate his school readiness.  *Some more on this for another post*
  • Thursday I am writing my second exam for the year.  Which really should translate to, why are you typing a post instead of studying.  Like I said in my opening line of this post, littlests is bound to wake. up. any. minute. now.  And so much more so, as soon as I actually open a study book.
In other news, I manage to take the first of many photo a month pictures.  I just need to work through the millions I took and decide which ones to share :)
And just because I started the post with, “not to jinx anything” I managed to finish without any interruptions.  Guess it is time to open up the books.

the early (and welcome) start to my maternity leave

The doctor booked me off on Monday after our two weekly check up.  He thought it was crazy that I was still at work and if I admit it, I tend to agree with him.  However, there was method in my madness and the main reason why I wanted to take maternity later rather than earlier, apart from wanting to spend as much time with the baby, is because I wanted to share both our little boys first day of school with them in next year.  (sounds complicated and it probably going to be, even from a logistical point of few.  More on that some other day!)

My blood pressure has been slightly, although not dangerously high, most of the past couple of months.  Right about now – 36-37 weeks is however the time it is bound to creep up even higher and judging by the size of my feet, the doctor made a good call!

My oh so lazy days now involve, having my blood pressure taken, loitering around in the baby room and doing the last couple of things I would have crammed into 1 day, had I only started my maternity leave on the 15th of September.  My favourite thing about being at home right now, is fetching Logan from school and having special mommy-and-big-brother time.

The lazy song

This morning as I got in the car, the latest song by Bruno Mars was on the radio.  I’ve heard the tune a couple of times.  Catchy and fun rhythm… my first thoughts were, this may be the very first Bruno Mars song I”ll end up liking.  Especially since commuting to Joburg every day won’t kill it for me in a week.

Of course that was right up until he sang:

” Cause today I swear I’m not doing anything… Nothing at all!”

Oh how I wish I could have just stayed in bed all day, I may even stay in bed the whole freaking winter!  All I may have second thoughts about is the birthday suit and letting it all hang loose!  What I can say, is that it has a cute music video:

I answer…

 Louisa‘s questions:

1. Are you ruled by the heart or the head?

By nature I think I am ruled by the heart, but life has forced me to act with the head instead!  I’m still an emotional mess at best!

2. What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

Many parenting decisions have been hard; the first was when I decided to leave Logan’s dad and many more followed.  And it has all been worth it!

3. If you knew today was your last day on earth, how would you spend it, with who, and why?

With the ones I love.  With my Logie and Kobus!  With my best friends!  I would probably contact my parents in attempt to say goodbye.  I think I would just want to be in good company and do everyday kinds of things.

4. Would you give your life to save someone else’s?

I think I probably would, but then you never know what you will do when you are in the situation.

 5. Monopoly or Cluedo?

I like Monopoly more than Cluedo.  Then again I am more of a 30 seconds kind of person!

6. What’s your fondest childhood memory?

All the memories I have with my grandmother.

7. If you could have a super power, what would it be, and why?

I think I’d want to be able to read minds/ change the future or think things into happening!

8. Do you colour-coordinate?

Depends on the weather, if it is cold I get dressed (that alone for me is a mission, when it is cold).  It also depends where I am going, if it is work I don’t care much!

9. Chocolate or vanilla?

Always Chocolate!

10. Light sabre or blowtorch?

Most definitely a blowtorch

I ask Sleepy Jane; TwisstyGirl; Laura; Wenchy and Supermom  the same questions :)
